News on current issues affecting PGE and our customers

BPA Bill Credit
PGE has signed an interim agreement with the Bonneville Power Administration PA that partially restores the monthly bill credit suspended in May 2007. The interim credit, which began April 15, will reduce the average residential bill by about 6 percent.

Climate Change and PGE
PGE is working to address energy needs in a carbon-concerned world.

Sullivan Plant designated green
The Sullivan Plant hydro project at Willamette Falls is one of only a few dozen hydro plants in the U.S. to have earned a "geen" designation for their limited environment impact.

PGE Energy Strategy
PGE is planning how to best meet our energy needs over the next 20 years.

PGE Pricing
PGE has filed a proposal with the Oregon Public Utility Commission for an overall 8.9 percent rate increase in 2009. The filing is the result of rising fuel and wholesale power prices, system investments and increased operating costs. A 10-month review process has begun.

Port Westward
PGE's newest power plant generates enough energy to serve about 300,000 homes. Since going online in June 2007, the plant has earned national and international awards for efficiency.

Boardman Plant Air Emissions
PGE is working with state environmental agencies to control mercury emissions at its coal-fired Boardman plant. It has also volunteered to be first in line for DEQ’s haze regulatory process. A single installation to control both emissions will require only one plant shutdown, saving PGE customers up to $750,000 per day.
