Ryin
Ryin Position: Distribution Engineer
When hired: 2006

Main focus of job:
Planning maintenance work and distribution line upgrades. "By constantly maintaining and upgrading the system, we reduce outages."

First impressions of PGE:
“It’s like a big family.... They were also open to hearing my ideas.”

Favorite part of job:
Experienced employees want to share their knowledge. “People are willing to nurture you along.”

Environmental commitment:
“When I design projects, I try to minimize the impact to existing trees because trees increase a community’s livability and benefit the environment.”

Outside interests:
Mountain biking and rowing with the PGE dragon boat team. “Rowing is a great workout, and the team members are probably some of the friendliest people at PGE.”

Jill
Jill Position: Substation Engineer
When hired: 2005

First impressions of PGE:
Friendly. “You walked down the hall and the people you pass would smile or say hi.”

Main focus of job:
Creating engineering designs for people in the field. "Our job is to do the drawings; the crews build the electrical equipment to our specifications."

Favorite part of job:
Seeing work she designed actually built in the field. “It’s great as a young engineer to experience that. I also appreciate all the opportunities to explore the many facets of the business.”

Community involvement:
“PGE does an excellent job of encouraging and supporting volunteer activities.”

Outside interests:
Indoor soccer. “I play three days a week for a couple of teams. I played outdoor soccer growing up, but I like the pace and speed
of indoor.”

Emilie
Emilie Position: Power Contracts/Risk Analyst
When hired: 2007

First impressions of PGE:
Helpful, patient employees. “Everyone has been and continues to be patient with me when I have questions.”

Nature of work:
“On a day-to-day basis, I may run the daily credit report, do margin calls, and negotiate certain terms into our power, gas and financial contracts that can help reduce rates for our customers.”

Favorite part of job:
Variety. “I work in the Power Contracts department, but I spend time in and learn about at least two other departments on an almost daily basis.”

Outside interests:
Traveling, running, volunteering, hanging out with good friends.

Kellie
Kellie Position: System Protection Engineer
When hired: 2003

Main focus of job:
Engineering the system to ensure reliability for customers. “We’re here to constantly improve that.”

First impression of PGE:
“I noticed right away that everyone was glad to be here and committed to the work they do.”

Favorite part of job:
“Knowing that what we do in engineering really impacts the service PGE delivers. Our customers really depend on us.”

Point of pride:
“I am very proud of PGE’s involvement in the community and its environmental stewardship.”

Outside interests:
Crafts. “They're great for projects related to my two kids.”
