PGE names new vice president of customers and economic development
New general manager for Western Region also announced
Portland, Ore. — Bill Nicholson has been named vice president of customers and economic development at Portland General Electric, effective May 1, 2007.
“Nothing is more important to PGE than our relationship with our customers,” said PGE CEO and president Peggy Fowler. “Bill knows our business inside out, he knows what our customers need and expect from us, and he knows how our company contributes to the economic vitality of the communities we serve.”
Nicholson was most recently general manager of PGE’s Western Region line operations, centered in Washington County. He joined PGE in 1980 as a shift technical advisor at the Trojan Nuclear Plant, after earning a bachelor’s degree in nuclear engineering at Oregon State University and advanced to management positions at Trojan before moving to resource development, generation and distribution assignments elsewhere in the company. He has also participated in company-wide initiatives relating to customer service and communications and has served on the boards of a number of community organizations, including current service on the board of Earth Advantage, an Oregon-based nonprofit that promotes sustainability and conservation by helping builders apply green-building principles.
A registered professional engineer, Nicholson belongs to the American Society of Mechanical Engineers and the National Society of Professional Engineers. He replaces Ron Johnson, who has retired after 30 years with PGE and six years on PGE’s officer team.
Dave Lamb has replaced Nicholson as general manager of PGE’s Western Region line operations, also effective May 1. Since joining the company in 1977 as an assistant engineer, Lamb has served in virtually all line and staff positions within PGE’s distribution area, including general line foreman, manager of distribution and engineering, manager of system planning and engineering and general manager of electrical maintenance and construction. He holds a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering from Oregon State University.
“Ron Johnson has done an extraordinary job leading outreach to customers and helping renew our employees’ focus on customer service,” said Steve Hawke, PGE senior vice president for customer service and delivery. “Bill Nicholson and Dave Lamb are talented leaders and managers with a rock-solid grounding in the nuts and bolts of our business. They are committed to continuing and building on Ron’s work.”
