PGE names Dudley as new VP and general counsel

Portland, Ore. – Jay Dudley has been named vice president, general counsel and compliance officer for Portland General Electric Company (NYSE: POR). Dudley will assume these new duties effective Aug. 10. Dudley follows Doug Nichols, who is retiring in August after 16 years with the company.

In his role, Dudley will be responsible for all of Portland General Electric’s legal affairs and coordinate the company’s internal audit, ethics and compliance activities.

Since joining PGE in 1988, Dudley has served as lead regulatory attorney on state and federal matters and has been instrumental in forging collaborative working relationships with the Oregon Public Utility Commission, Federal Energy Regulatory Commission, Energy Facility Siting Council and Bonneville Power Administration.

“Jay’s experience and knowledge of PGE and broad utility industry matters made him the right choice to take on this challenging role,” said Peggy Fowler, CEO and president of PGE. “The experience and integrity he brings to this position will benefit PGE and our customers as we enter our second year as an independent company headquartered in Oregon.”

Before joining PGE, Dudley specialized in energy issues during almost 14 years of service with law firms in Seattle and Cincinnati. He has a Bachelor of Science in chemical engineering from the University of Michigan, where he graduated magna cum laude in 1970 and earned his Juris Doctorate from Stanford Law School in 1974. He is admitted to practice law in Oregon, Washington, California and Ohio.

Dudley is also a fellow of the American Leadership Forum of Oregon, a nonprofit, nonpartisan organization that joins and strengthens leaders in order to better serve the public good. As an active member of the community, Dudley is a member of The Rotary Club of Portland Metropolitan and is a volunteer with the Lake Oswego Millennium Concert Band, where he plays the clarinet.

A native of Ohio, Dudley moved to Portland in 1988 when he joined PGE. He and his wife of 35 years, Hanan, live in Lake Oswego.
