EnergyGuard is a Web-based system that tracks and actually learns how your business uses electricity, correlating usage with the weather. It shows you on a daily basis if you are using more or less energy than what is predicted based on your history and that day’s weather. It’s a good choice for businesses that are weather-dependant — which means electricity use varies primarily on heating/ventilation/air conditioning needs — such as small commercial, restaurant or office buildings.
How EnergyGuard works
PGE installs a smart meter at your site that records more detailed data on your electrical load than a regular meter would. You can view the data via a password-protected Web site. All data is archived on the site for future reference.
Monitor energy use and carbon emissions
EnergyGuard’s simple-to-read graphs make it easy to see how much energy you’re using and your level of carbon emissions. It’s just as easy to track savings when you make energy-efficiency improvements.
Here are the graphs EnergyGuard generates:
Daily chart
View your actual kilowatt-hour consumption, hour-by-hour, compared to predicted consumption for a particular day. See at a glance if you are on the right track toward energy savings — whether consumption is high, normal or low. You can easily spot any unusual spikes or problems, such as periods when equipment may be running unnecessarily, and make immediate adjustments.
Monthly and annual charts
See longer-term views of your actual versus predicted electricity consumption.
Carbon emissions
Saving energy helps reduce your carbon footprint. The carbon emissions graph helps you document your progress on building a greener, more sustainable business.
Customizable “portal” summary view
With EnergyGuard, you can update a summary of your energy-efficiency and carbon-reduction progress daily on a special portal view page. Then, share it with customers and employees via your Web site or on a computer display in your lobby.
Costs
This is our lowest-cost energy monitoring option. The monthly fee for EnergyGuard is $30 per meter. There is also a one-time $50 setup fee per meter.
