“Card” your lights
Use our handy measuring card to assess the savings potential in fluorescent tube lights

“Card” your lightsIf you’re thinking about upgrading your fluorescent tube lights it will help to understand what kind of lights you have.

E-mail us to request a card like this, which you can hold up to your fluorescent tube lights to figure out whether they’re the larger 1.5’ diameter T12s or the 1’ diameter T8s. Size is your best clue — the cutouts on either end will tell you.

This video demonstrates how easy it is to use your light card:

T12 lighting: Upgrade now!
Because T12 fluorescent systems are so inefficient, replacement lamps and ballasts won’t be available after 2012.

It’s easy to upgrade T12 systems to high-performance T8 fluorescent lighting with electronic ballasts. You’ll use around 40 percent less energy and your space will be better lit, more inviting and even more productive.

T8 lighting: Clues for optimum efficiency
T8 systems can either be highly efficient or in need of an upgrade, depending on a number of factors (see “Quick Hints” in the sidebar).

Energy Trust of Oregon offers cash back incentives for making the switch to high-efficiency T8s.

You must pre-qualify, so talk to our energy experts for details. They’ll also help you figure out how much you could save and how to ensure you get the incentives you deserve.
