The 2009 Save More, Matter More™ campaign has ended. Our second year yielded a terrific variety of energy-saving pledges from all sorts of area businesses! Thank you to everyone who made a pledge to save energy in the coming year.

And the winners are…
Energy-efficient improvements will light up five lucky businesses. Congratulations to the winners of our Save More, Matter More sweepstakes drawing:

• Cedar Park Middle School
• General Pacific, Inc.
• McKay Elementary School
• Somerset Christian Church

Each business will receive a $3,000 energy-efficient lighting retrofit, courtesy of PGE and Energy Trust of Oregon.

Lean and green businesses
Pledgers responded to 2009’s tough economy with heart. They showed a commitment to reducing their impact on the environment while also cutting wasted energy costs. You can watch videos of some of this year’s pledgers, read their stories, and see a list of everyone who pledged.

Many ways to Save More
Some chose simple, no-cost or low-cost strategies (PDF), like using programmable thermostats or turning off lights and equipment at night. Others pledged to conduct energy assessments and make efficiency part of their operations plans. Many opted to upgrade lighting, office/production equipment or HVAC systems. Every business made a difference, and continues to do so as they bring their pledges to life throughout the coming year.
