Port Westward opens
Our Port Westward generating plant opened for commercial generation in June. The 400-megawatt natural gas-fired power plant is one of the most efficient plants in the nation today. Learn more and watch a compressed-time video of the plant construction in our Current Issues section.

Turbines going up at Biglow
Crews have begun assembling the wind turbines at our new Biglow Canyon Wind Farm. By late 2007, its 76 turbines will be able to produce about 125 megawatts of capacity.

This five-year, three-phase project is expected to be one of the largest wind power projects in the region.

New resource plan unveiled
PGE filed a new 2007 Integrated Resource Plan with the Oregon Public Utility Commission at the end of June. The plan identifies the best options for filling the gap between our existing resources and expected demand for power.

  2. Adjust the thermostat. Just a couple of degrees can make a big difference in energy savings without sacrificing comfort. Learn more about how to control energy costs on our Web site. . . (more)

PGE head named to Federal Reserve

In June, the board of directors of the Federal Reserve Bank of San Francisco appointed Peggy Y. Fowler, CEO and president of PGE to its Portland Branch board. She will play an important role in providing the Federal Reserve System with economic information for the power industry and the region.
