If you are interested in generating your own power and selling some or all to PGE, there are several programs from which to choose.
The program for which you qualify will depend on the type and size of your generation system.
If you have a merchant plant and are interested in selling power on the open market to a third-party buyer, see PGEs OASIS Web site.
Small Power Production
If you are thinking of generating power with a qualifying facility (QF) at 1000 kW or less, PGE may buy your power under Rate Schedule 201 Small Power Production.
The Small Power Production program requires:
- That the qualifying facility (QF) be a co-generation facility or a small power producing facility as defined in the Code of Federal Regulations, 18CFR292.203.
- Power shall be at a voltage, phase, frequency and power factor as specified by PGE.
- Switching equipment capable of isolating the qualifying facility from PGEs system shall be accessible to PGE at all times.
- At PGEs option, PGE may operate the switching equipment described above if, in the sole opinion of PGE, continued operation of the qualifying facility in connection with the utility’s system may create or contribute to a system emergency.
- The qualifying facility shall bear full responsibility for the installation and safe operation of the interconnection facilities.
Generating more than 1,000 kW
If your qualifying facility produces more than 1,000 kW and youd like to sell power to PGE, PGE will buy your power under a Power Purchase Agreement.
The power purchase agreement with PGE will cover all aspects of the sale, delivery and purchase of your QF power and establish the legal rights and obligations of both you as the QF developer and PGE.
Additional metering and telecommunications to PGE Load Dispatch may be required for units larger than 1,000 kW.
