PGE has been recognized with many awards for our community involvement. Here are just a few:

2007
  • William S. Naito Outstanding Service Award. CEO and President Peggy Fowler received the William S. Naito Outstanding Service Award from the Portland Business Alliance for her tremendous contributions to organizations throughout the region and her leadership in making community involvement an integral part of PGE’s business.
  • Business Partner of the Year. Portland General Electric was named “Business Partner of the Year 2007” by the Oregon Building Congress. PGE became the first utility to receive this award.
  • Business Journal’s Corporate Philanthropy Awards. Portland General Electric was ranked No. 5 for donations to local nonprofits and employee volunteer hours by the Portland Business Journal. The PGE Foundation was ranked No. 4 for it's contributions to local nonprofits as well.
  • Silver Pinnacle Award. Portland General Electric was recognized with a Silver Award for Best Sponsor of the Portland Rose Festival Centennial Celebration by the International Festivals & Events Association.
  • Portland First Citizen. CEO and President Peggy Fowler was named 2007 Portland First Citizen by the Portland Metropolitan Association of Realtors.
2006
  • Oregon’s Most Admired Companies, Portland Business Journal. PGE ranked No. 7 in the list of Oregon’s top 10 companies across all industries.
  • Green Power Program of the Year, presented by U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and the U.S. Department of Energy, PGE’s commitment to advancing the development of the nation’s green power market.
  • Cowgirl of the Year Award, presented by Forward Stride Center for Therapeutic Recreation to PGE CEO and President Peggy Fowler. This award is given annually to an Oregon woman who demonstrates “unfailing fortitude, uncommon gumption and a good dose of true grit.”
  • Women of Distinction Award, presented by Marylhurst University. PGE CEO and President Peggy Fowler received the Woman of Business Award and was one of five Women of Distinction honored for their competence, leadership and service.
  • Premier Employer Partner Award, presented by Oregon Mentors, recognized PGE for its demonstrated commitment to mentoring.
  • Community Service Award, presented by SEDCOR (Strategic Economic Development Corporation) for PGE’s commitment to building better communities in the mid-Willamette Valley.
  • 2,000+ Hours Award, presented by Oregon Food Bank in recognition of PGE employee volunteer hours.
  • Sunburst Award, presented by Young Audiences of Oregon and SW Washington to PGE and the PGE Foundation in recognition of their commitment to the arts in education.
  • Mail Preparation Total Quality Management Certification, presented by the U.S. Postal Service, recognized PGE’s Printing & Mailing Services team for their commitment to quality and efficiency in preparing mail. PGE was the first utility in the nation to earn this certification.
  • #1 Utility in Nation for Residential Green Power Sales, presented by U.S. Department of Energy’s National Renewable Energy Laboratory.

  • BEST Award, awarded for PGE’s outstanding committment to employee learning and development by the American Society of Training & Development.
  • Light a Fire Award — “Army of Volunteers.” PGE was honored for the outstanding volunteer work our employees do in the community by Portland Monthly Magazine.
  • Employer Award, presented by the Oregon Governor’s Occupational Safety & Health Conference to PGE’s generation group in recognition of excellence in occupational safety and health.
  • Excellence Award, presented by Corporate University Xchange for PGE's Corporate University in the Corporate/College Alliance category.
  • Governor’s Honor Roll, presented by the Oregon Disabilities Commission in recognition of PGE’s outstanding achievement in employing and empowering Oregonians with disabilities.
  • Heart of the Community Volunteer Award, presented Hands On Portland and the Blazers Community Builders to PGE employee Wendy Buck, Meter Reading, for her outstanding volunteerism.
  • Heritage Enterprise Award, presented by Mission Mill Museum Association in Salem, Ore., in recognition of PGE’s long-term contributions to the economy and quality of life in the community.
  • Investments in Dignity Award, presented by The Equity Foundation to Carole Morse, manager of community investments and president of the PGE Foundation, for her leadership in championing the dignity and worth of all individuals, regardless of sexual orientation.
  • Trademark Award, presented by United Way of the Mid-Willamette Valley to PGE for its outstanding commitment to United Way in Marion and Polk counties.
  • Large Company of the Year, presented by Woodburn Chamber of Commerce in recognition of PGE's ongoing support of the local community.
  • Volunteer Award, presented by the Tualatin Hills Park and Recreation District in recognition of PGE volunteer efforts to enhance the Tualatin Nature Park in Beaverton.

  • Business-Education Higher Education Achievement Award, presented by Business Education Compact to PGE’s Corporate University and Eastern Oregon University in recognition for an exemplary partnership between business and education.
  • Four Cs Award, presented by U.S. Department of Interior Bureau of Land Management to PGE and the Western Rivers Conservancy for efforts to create a 5,000-acre conservation corridor in the Sandy River Basin.

  • Community Spirit Award, presented by Emanuel Medical Center Foundation in recognition of PGE’s ongoing support of the Oregon Burn Center at Legacy Emanuel Hospital & Health Center.
  • Helping Hands Award, presented by Mt. Angel Chamber of Commerce for assistance with community projects in the small community of Mt. Angel.
  • Elders in Action Silver Award, presented by Elders in Action to retired lineman Lyman Trumbull for his outstanding contribution to the health and vitality of the Portland metro area.
  • Good Neighbor Award, presented by the Willamette Chapter of American Red Cross to Stu VanWyngarden, Distribution Design Services, for his outstanding volunteer service.
  • Henwood Lifetime Achievement Award, presented by the National Hydropower Association to Julie Keil, director of Hydro Relicensing, for extraordinary leadership and dedication to hydropower as an energy technology.
  • Large Business of the Year, presented by North Clackamas Chamber of Commerce for continued excellence in providing safe, reliable power and excellent customer service.
  • Life-Saving Awards presented by the Marion County Fire District to six Salem Line employees — Bill Iwen, Bill Young, Bob Ramseyer, Roger Frank, Salome Mendoza and Al Garibay — for saving the lives of three Salem residents in an early-morning fire.
  • Meter Reader of the Year, presented by Itron Corp., makers of handheld computers used by meter readers, to PGE employee Tami McKay for her professional competency, teamwork and commitment to customer service and the community.
  • Outstanding Service Award, presented by the YMCA of Marian and Polk counties to employee Theresa Taaffe from PGE’s Southern Region in recognition of her ongoing support for the local YMCA.
  • Partnership Award, presented by Staples Corp. national headquarters to Tim Custer, Customer Account Management, for outstanding customer service.
  • Steward Award, presented by the Oregon Parks & Recreation Department to retired information planning engineer Dave Kruse for his volunteer work at Tryon Creek State Park.
  • Top Corporate Supporter of the Arts in the Portland metro area, presented by Northwest Business for Culture and the Arts (fifth consecutive year).

  • SHARP Awards (Safety & Health Achievement Recognition Program), presented by the State of Oregon Occupational Safety and Health Administration to PGE's Boardman and Coyote Springs power plants in recognition of their safety and health programs.
