Volunteerism
Outstanding Volunteer Awards

All of our employee volunteers play an important role in the community. But once a year, PGE honors employees and retirees who epitomize PGE’s volunteer spirit through their exemplary service to the community.

Hundreds of nominations are submitted each year by coworkers, retirees and community leaders. A selection committee comprised of PGE employees and members of the community chooses the most outstanding volunteers. PGE gives $250 grants in the name of each outstanding volunteer to the nonprofit of his or her choice.

PGE employees volunteer throughout the community, including reading with elementary school students through SMART: Start Making A Reader Today PGE employees take a very hands-on approach to building a stronger community.

In addition to contributing generously through the employee giving campaign, they contribute hours of their own time to a variety of worthy causes. There are hundreds of organizations that benefit from PGE volunteers.

After work and on weekends, PGE employees, retirees and their families can be found sorting food at the food bank, weatherizing homes for seniors, and pulling ivy, planting trees and cleaning the beach to help the environment.

PGE employees also coach youth on the ball fields, serve on school committees, foundations and boards, and work with students in classrooms through programs such as Junior Achievement and SMART.

Employees can also apply for Employee Volunteer Grants, which double the impact of their volunteer efforts.
