Improvements at Boardman Plant are designed to meet or exceed standards.

The Boardman Plant is a central piece of PGE’s balanced energy portfolio. Generating 585 megawatts of electricity, Boardman supplies power to more than 250,000 Oregon homes.

Good for the environment and customers
Consistent with our environmental principles (PDF*), PGE has instituted improvements at the plant to address environmental concerns while ensuring we can meet Oregon’s need for reliable power at a reasonable cost.

The improvements are part of an aggressive plan to cut haze-causing emissions by more than 76 percent and airborne mercury by 90 percent — one of the most ambitious reduction targets in the nation.

The plan for the future
Our long-term emissions control strategy includes a number of major long-term technology improvements intended to further control of emissions. All of these efforts are designed to help the Boardman Plant meet or exceed federal environmental standards.
