Faraday-North Fork Fish Ladder
At Faraday Dam, migrating salmon and steelhead enter the world's longest operating fish ladder. Here, about 75 yards upstream, the ladder makes a sharp turn and fish enter into a holding pen, where wild and hatchery fish are sorted and counted. Unmarked wild fish are released back into the ladder and travel past Faraday Dam in the section of the ladder seen at the top left of the photo. The ladder puts fish back into the Clackamas River above North Fork Dam, running for a total of 1.9 miles. The ladder is 10 feet wide and six feet deep.
