PGE works to collaborate with community organizations in an effort to meet the needs of our community and achieve our business goals. With great consideration, we invest in programs and sponsor events that reflect our customers’ values, our employees’ community interests, and our company’s business priorities.

With this commitment in mind, we have chosen the following three areas in which to focus our community investments.

Education and workforce development
We have plans for a bright future, and we know we can’t get there without an educated and diverse workforce. That’s why we give to programs that support K-12 education. Delving deeper, we engage in policy discussions that seek to affect systemic educational change and close the achievement gap. With a practical mindset, we aim to encourage and train young men and women for work in the utilities by supporting programs that build trade skills and engage students in math, science and engineering.

Customer safety and a safety net
Safety is a mantra we don’t ever stop repeating. And, we share that message with our youngest customers starting in grade school. We provide free instruction materials, online resources and classroom presentations on electrical safety and energy efficiency to teachers throughout the region’s educational system. We also visit safety fairs throughout our service areas to share presentations that offer engaging lessons in safety. The well-being of our customers goes beyond avoiding accidents. We believe a safety net is vital for a community to survive and thrive. We back that belief with programs that directly support low-income, elderly and disabled populations. We don’t think power should be a luxury or a privilege, and with programs such as Oregon HEAT, we make a concerted effort to keep people from falling through the cracks.

Sustainable economy and environment
The lifeblood of a community is fed by a robust economy. We encourage economic growth by sponsoring major events that increase tourism and engage our citizens. We also dive into policy discussions by taking on leadership roles that help to shape our region’s future. That future includes preserving and promoting a healthy physical environment, monitoring our ecological footprint and encouraging sustainable initiatives that reduce the impact on the environment.
