Faraday Holding Pen
Steelhead (shown here) and salmon enter a fish ladder below Faraday Dam and swim into this holding pen. PGE biologists separate the unmarked wild fish from fin-clipped hatchery fish, handling hundreds of fish daily when runs peak. They release wild fish to continue upstream, where fishing prohibitions protect native stocks. Hatchery fish are trucked about 15 miles downstream and released into the Clackamas River at Barton Park for additional angling opportunities. |
