PSU, PGE unveil Electric Avenue
Portland State University and Portland General Electric recently launched the nation’s first “Electric Avenue,” an urban showcase for electric vehicles and charging technology.

As part of the festivities, PSU and PGE presented a flash mob dance performance to help demonstrate our excitement about the project, which is a partnership between PGE, PSU and the city of Portland.

The Electric Avenue — Montgomery Avenue at Broadway in Southwest Portland — showcased seven electric vehicle charging stations from six different manufacturers. Electric Avenue is designed to serve a range of electric vehicles, including: passenger vehicles; urban freight and service vehicles; neighborhood electric vehicles; motorcycles; bicycles and even Segways. And all of the charging stations on Electric Avenue provide vehicles with PGE renewable energy.

Among the featured charging stations are several made from local companies, including Portland-based Shorepower Technologies and Beaverton-based OpConnect. The unveiling also featured several brands of EVs: the Nissan LEAF, the Chevrolet Volt, the Mitsubishi iMiev, the Tesla Roadster, the Ford Transit Connect and Smith Newton electric truck.
