PGE offers business customers several electricity pricing options. You can choose our Annual Cost of Service rate, our market-based pricing plans or you can select an Energy Service Supplier.
Annual Cost of Service
The Annual Cost of Service rate is PGEs annual fixed-price energy option and requires a full-year commitment. This is the standard pricing plan most businesses are on.
Alternative pricing plans
You can also choose one of PGEs market-based energy pricing plans if you think this works best for you, or if you wish to have the option to select an ESS. We offer Quarterly, Monthly or Daily pricing plans. You should pick the plan that best helps you manage your costs. Each one has a different level of risk. Visit the pricing plans section on PortlandGeneral.biz for deadlines on selecting different pricing options.
Quarterly Pricing
Prices are adjusted quarterly and are published on PortlandGeneral.biz in March, June, September and December the month prior to the beginning of each quarter. At the end of each quarter, you can choose to do nothing and stay on Quarterly pricing, move to Monthly or Daily pricing, or leave to receive service from an Energy Service Supplier, or ESS.
Monthly Pricing
On- and off-peak prices are set monthly and are published on PortlandGeneral.biz each month prior to the month they are effective. Each month you have the opportunity to do nothing and remain on Monthly pricing, switch to Daily pricing, or leave to receive service from an ESS. You have a chance to switch to Quarterly pricing in March, June, September and December the month prior to the start of each quarter.
Daily Pricing
Daily on- and off-peak prices are based on the Dow Jones Mid-Columbia Daily Price index, which is published at dowjonesnews.com. PGE will add an adjustment for line losses and the cost of transmitting power to PGEs system. Just like the other pricing plans, youll have the opportunity to switch to Monthly and Quarterly pricing during the year at appropriate times.
Charges that apply to all customers
The pricing described applies only to your kWh usage. In addition, there are other PGE charges that apply regardless of your energy pricing option. These state-regulated charges include a customer charge, distribution and transmission charges, as well as supplemental adjustments.
