Affordable cooling and heating
A heat pump is a great cooling and heating choice in our mild Pacific Northwest climate. How does it work? In the summer, it operates as an air conditioner, collecting heat from the air in your home and sending it outside. In the winter, the process is reversed. The heat pump collects heat from outdoor air and pumps it inside to warm your home.

Because a heat pump transfers heat rather than creating it, it requires significantly less energy to supply the same amount of heat as a traditional furnace. A secondary heat source, typically a furnace, serves as a backup for days when temperatures drop below 35 degrees.

Learn more about heat pump energy efficiency, a PGE rebate, PGE-approved contractors and ways to save with cash incentives and tax credits. Ask your contractor about special manufacturer’s incentives.

Constant comfort in every season
Besides using energy efficiently, heat pumps deliver consistent year-round temperatures and balance humidity to keep you comfortable in any season. You’ll experience fewer temperature swings with an even flow of warm air during the heating season and cool air in the summer.

Quiet, reliable performance
Today’s energy-efficient heat pumps are designed to offer reliable performance, quiet operation and simple maintenance. When installed and tested by a qualified contractor, the new generation of heat pumps can deliver years of dependable service and comfort. View operation and maintenance tips that will help you get the most from a new or existing heat pump.

Easier on the environment
When you choose a high-efficiency heat pump, you’re making a choice for the environment. By reducing your energy use, you’re helping to reduce reliance on fossil fuels, reduce greenhouse gas emissions and improve air quality.
