#10: Use compact fluorescent light bulbs.

Savings: Up to 75 percent of lighting energy bill*

Follow the steps below to switch out your current light bulbs with compact fluorescent light bulbs.
Steps:
  1. Take an inventory of your home’s lighting needs for size and wattage requirements. The wattage of compact fluorescent light bulbs is typically 25 percent of incandescent bulbs.

  2. Purchase compact fluorescent light bulbs as your budget allows. Start with the lights that are on the most.
