What to expect when you join PGE
New Hires

What can you expect as a new Portland General Electric employee? A lot! In your first year — and for the rest of your career here — PGE will provide you with the tools and training to ensure that you not only succeed in your position, but that you feel the sense of empowerment, support and “belonging to something good for Oregon” that makes working here so satisfying.

Getting started
Our New Employee Orientation is held every quarter. It’s a full day that includes informative presentations, lunch with company officers and the opportunity to get to know other new employees.

Guiding Behaviors training introduces employees to the six core values of PGE business and culture: Be Accountable, Earn Trust, Dignify People, Make the Right Thing Happen, Positive Attitude and Team Behavior.

Our overall corporate culture is warm and welcoming and managers are encouraged to have an open door policy. New employees quickly get adjusted and become part of the team.

First year and beyond
We want all your time at PGE to be as interesting as your first year. That may mean taking on new responsibilities or even exploring life in a new department. The mentorship program is available to all employees, including new hires, for just that reason. And many departments have a dedicated informal mentor who helps new hires transition into their positions.
