News: Public comment period open through Aug. 2
PGE has filed preliminary permit applications with the state and federal agencies responsible for reviewing PGE’s proposed Cascade Crossing Transmission Project. This is the first step in two distinct government permitting processes required in order for PGE to build the project.
Public participation is a key component of the permitting processes. The Oregon Energy Facility Siting Council, U.S. Forest Service and cooperating federal agencies are accepting public comments about the proposed project through August 2. The agencies and PGE have launched a joint website that gives project details, explains the permitting processes, features interactive maps and provides the opportunity to file a formal comment with the permitting agencies.
In late June and early July, the agencies held a series of public meetings (called scoping meetings) to explain the permitting processes and accept public comments about the project.

About the project
PGE is proposing a new transmission project to help meet Oregon’s growing energy needs, enable development of more renewable power projects, and enhance reliability of the region’s electrical grid. The project would connect new and existing electricity power sources east of the Cascades to the Willamette Valley. Learn more about the Cascade Crossing Transmission Project.
