Win a chance to ride atop PGE’s float in the Grand Floral Parade by volunteering during Take Care of Oregon Days in May
PORTLAND, Ore. — Oregon is celebrating 150 years of statehood this year. And what better way to celebrate Oregon than to ride on Portland General Electric’s Take Care of Oregon float in the 2009 Rose Festival KeyBank Grand Floral Parade on Saturday, June 6.
Oregonians who volunteer at one of 600 Take Care of Oregon Days projects in May will be entered into a sweepstakes drawing to win a ride on PGE’s float in the Rose Festival Grand Floral Parade and an overnight stay at Hotel deLuxe on Friday, June 5. Volunteers who register online at www.Oregon150.org and participate in a project between May 1 and May 31, 2009 will automatically be entered into the sweepstakes. One volunteer will be selected randomly and must be available to participate on parade day.
“We value our rich history as an Oregon company, so it’s only natural that we’re supporting Oregon’s sesquicentennial celebration,” said Kregg Arntson, PGE community affairs manager. “Our employees and customers give their time and energy to make Oregon a better place to live and work and the Rose Festival is a wonderful place to recognize their efforts.”
PGE and the PGE Foundation are supporting the Oregon 150 Take Care of Oregon Days service project created to encourage Oregonians across the state to roll up their sleeves and give back to their communities.
“The response as been tremendous and we’re so appreciative of the support we’ve received from PGE and other sponsors,” said Melisa McDonald, Oregon 150 executive director. “With nearly 600 projects planned across the state, Oregonians of every age and skill level can do their part to take on community projects that will keep Oregon strong for the next 150 years.”
