PGE requests proposals for habitat support administration
PORTLAND, Ore. — Portland General Electric (PGE) (NYSE:POR) has issued a request for proposals (RFP) inviting nonprofit organizations to respond by June 15, 2010, to administer PGE’s Habitat Support program. The program restores native fish habitat and educates the community on the benefits of healthy rivers and streams with funds provided by customers of PGE’s renewable power program.
Almost 10,000 PGE renewable power customers participate in the Habitat Support option by paying an additional $2.50 per month. Eligible nonprofits will need experience in providing watershed assessments and analysis; acquisition of conservation easements from private parties to protect anatropous species habitat; riparian planting, stream bank stabilization, barrier removal, removing vegetation, monitoring activities, and public outreach and education efforts.
“PGE is particularly interested in proposals that will encourage projects in PGE’s service area, actively engage communities and diverse partners, and include collaborative efforts, including promotion and marketing, with the PGE renewable power team,” said Thor Hinckley, renewable power program manager, PGE.
Bids are being solicited for a two-year period beginning January 1, 2011 and ending December 31, 2012. For more information and a copy of the request for proposal, please visit http://portlandgeneral.com/habitatprovider.
