PGE organization changes position company for the future

 

PORTLAND, Ore. – Portland General Electric Company (NYSE: POR) has announced changes to its leadership team to strengthen its ongoing commitment to customers, reinforce our system reliability and operate cost-effectively on behalf of customers. 

 “Our organization is fortunate to have a tremendous wealth of skill and talent, and these organizational changes allow us to take full advantage of that bench strength as we plan for the future,” said Jim Piro, PGE’s president and CEO. “These changes to roles and responsibilities among top management will help us better achieve our long-term objectives while maintaining our focus on cost effective operations.”

The following changes will become effective Aug. 1.

  • Dave Robertson has been named vice president of public policy at PGE. Robertson joined PGE in 2004, previously serving as PGE’s director of government affairs. In his new role he will oversee corporate communications, government relations, environmental policy and community involvement at the company. Robertson has nearly 20 years experience in the energy policy area. Prior to joining PGE he served as a director of government relations for Pacific Gas & Electric’s national energy group, and was a member of U.S. Sen. Mark Hatfield’s staff.
  • Carol Dillin, who has served as vice president of public policy since 2004, has been named vice president of customers and economic development. In her new role Dillin will focus on supporting customers and providing them with resources to better manage their electric use at their homes and businesses, and promoting economic development within the state. She will oversee PGE’s economic development activities, Web management, customer research, customer energy resources, as well as the teams responsible for supporting large business and industrial customers, general business customers and residential customers. Dillin joined PGE in 1987, and has served in a variety of management capacities during her 22 years at the company.
  • Bill Nicholson, who previously served as vice president of customers & economic development, has been named vice president of PGE’s distribution area, which includes system planning and engineering, electrical maintenance and construction, as well as PGE’s three regional distribution areas, which provide system improvements and reliability across PGE’s entire 4,000 square-mile operating area. In addition to his greater understanding of customer needs and expectations gained during his years with customers & economic development, Nicholson brings to the role five years prior in distribution operations, as well as 21 years in generation engineering and resource development at PGE.
  • Bruce Carpenter has been named vice president of transmission and distribution support. Carpenter’s new assignment will include overall responsibility for the completion of PGE’s smart meter project as well as broader distribution system support functions. He joined PGE in 1978 and has managed a number of key initiatives for PGE, including the smart meter project now underway. He is currently PGE’s general manager of revenue operations.
