Got surge protectors
Protect your new TV or electronics from surge damage.
Did you get a new flat-panel TV at Christmas or in January to watch the big game? Or maybe you have a new Blu-ray disc player or game console. Now’s the time to make sure you have good outlet surge suppression.

An outlet surge suppressor (not an ordinary power strip) is inexpensive protection. Simply plugged into wall outlets, this type of surge suppression stops voltage spikes and surges from damaging your expensive electronic equipment. Surges, spikes and other voltage gremlins can originate inside your own home, such as when certain appliances or electric devices are turned on and off. Or, when there’s a big storm, they can enter your home through power lines, phone lines or cable TV lines.

Outlet surge suppression diverts excessive electrical energy away from sensitive electronics or appliances. The energy goes to an electrical “ground” where it is dissipated without doing any harm.

To help you choose an outlet surge suppressor, we have a Guide to Surge Protection Products. You can also download a shopping checklist (PDF) to take with you to the store.
