Understanding electricity pricing
In February, PGE filed for a price increase with the Oregon Public Utility Commission. The proposal — averaging 7.4 percent across the board — is now going through a 10-month review process. If approved, much of the money will fund upgrades to the power grid to meet Oregonians’ growing demand, and about half reflects operating and maintenance costs.
To help you understand how electricity prices are set, we’ve put together a short video. It explains where your money goes, how PGE is working to control costs and why we’re asking for a price change. You can also learn what we’re doing to help customers.
