PGE’s Take Care of Oregon Days Sweepstakes
Volunteers who participated in Oregon 150 Take Care of Oregon Days projects will ride atop PGE’s float in the Rose Festival Grand Floral Parade.

And the winner is…
Eric Provost of Milwaukie is a fifth grade teacher in Wilsonville. He was selected through a random drawing from thousands of Oregonians who volunteered at one of the over 600 Take Care of Oregon Days projects during the month of May. Specifically, Eric helped the clean-up of the Japanese American Historical Plaza at Tom McCall Waterfront Park. He will be featured, along with two other outstanding volunteers, on PGE’s “Take Care of Oregon” float in the Grand Floral Parade on June 6.

The other float riders
Shantel Monk, this year’s recipient of the Hands on Greater Portland Nathan Sibell Youth Leadership Award, is dedicated to improving the lives of at-risk and foster care children. To read more about Shantel and her commitment to Oregon visit Hands on Greater Portland.

Ray Clack is a PGE employee who was selected to ride on the float from a group of employees who logged 20 or more volunteer hours during the first 5 weeks of PGE’s 150 Days of Service employee volunteer challenge. PGE’s goal is to log 50,000 volunteer hours during the 150 days between April 18 and the SOLV Fall Beach Cleanup on September 19. Ray has been a dedicated volunteer with the Crystal Springs Rhododendron Garden since 1984, both on the Board, as well as for fundraising and educational events, and beautification efforts.

About Oregon 150 and the Take Care of Oregon Days projects
This year Oregon is celebrating 150 years of statehood. As one of Oregon’s oldest companies, it’s only natural PGE is helping sponsor this year-long celebration of Oregon. Specifically, PGE and the PGE Foundation supported the Oregon 150 Take Care of Oregon Days service project encouraging Oregonians across the state to roll up their sleeves and give back to their communities during the month of May.

We invited Oregonians to join us in celebrating this place we call home by volunteering for at least one of the 600 projects happening across the state during the month of May. Not only did they feel great about taking care of Oregon, they were entered into a drawing for a ride on PGE’s float during the Grand Floral Parade and an overnight stay at Hotel deLuxe on June 5. For 120 years, PGE has been taking care of Oregon by providing safe and reliable power, developing clean energy solutions and investing in our community. Furthermore PGE employees contributed more than 70,000 community service hours and raised a record $1.5 million for nonprofits across the state last year.

We’re proud to support Oregon 150, the Portland Rose Festival and hundreds of other organizations across the state that are improving the quality of life in our communities.
