Clackamas River History

For more than 125 years, we’ve been powering Oregonians at work and at home. Our history is entwined with the region’s history, and nowhere is that truer than along the Clackamas River.

One example is River Mill. As the oldest operating Ambursen dam on the West Coast, it marked a turning point toward more efficient use of raw materials in dam construction.

Rail lines built to carry workers and materials to the site also brought tourism to the region, all of which led to the birth of the city of Estacada.

Take a glance at the slideshow for more on the rich history we share with the Clackamas region.
