New! Portland Winter Light Festival

Community-wide celebration illuminates the city’s public spaces with installations by premier light artists, Feb. 3-6.

Early February is often dark and dreary around here, and people tend to hunker down indoors. But not this year! The inaugural Portland Winter Light Festival will illuminate the Portland cityscape Feb. 3-6, turning the city into a tapestry of light, color, artistry performance and imagination.

This free, all-ages community celebration is a project of the all-volunteer Willamette Light Brigade. It’s presented by PGE, powered by PGE renewable energy and hosted by OMSI. It will illuminate public spaces with large-scale light sculptures, projections, performances and installations by premier light artists and designers.

Inspired by light festivals around the globe, this innovative collaboration between art and science celebrates the spirit of winter and warmth of community.
