When you use energy is important

That’s a great question. Thanks for asking.

Q. I feel like I’ve done all I can to save energy at home. What else can I do to be more sustainable?

Thank you for saving energy at home! Your changes are making an impact. And, yes, there is something else you can do to help create a more sustainable future. You see, how much energy you use is important, and so is when you use it. That’s why we’re introducing options — such as our smart thermostat program — that reward you for shifting energy use when demand is highest, like on a really hot summer afternoon.

Here’s why it’s important: If lots of homes temporarily shift a little away from those peak times, it reduces the big spikes in energy use that we have to meet with more expensive power. That helps keep costs lower overall. It also gives us the flexibility to draw on cleaner, more cost-effective energy to power your home.

When everyone shifts just a little, we make a big difference while still having comfort, reliability and affordability. After all, when it comes to staying connected — while using our resources wisely — we’re all in this together.

Learn more about how you can get rewarded and play an important role in energy demand as we build a brighter future, together.
