In March, Governor Kate Brown signed the Oregon Clean Electricity and Coal Transition bill into law. This landmark legislation will make Oregon coal-free by 2035 and doubles the state’s renewable power goals to 50 percent by 2040.
The bill was a collaborative effort with a diverse group of business, consumer and environmental advocates. In addition to paving the way for a more sustainable energy mix for Oregon, it also includes important provisions to keep prices affordable and ensure reliability for all PGE customers as we invest in our power supply system over the next 30 years.
As we continue the planning process and move forward on this path toward a cleaner energy future, we’ll be sharing updates in the Power Report newsletter to keep you informed.
