Oregon’s Clean Energy Future

Let’s get to a clean future, together

At Portland General Electric, we are committed to helping customers and the communities we serve achieve a clean energy future.

For more than 130 years, PGE has been powering customers’ lives, delivering energy that is safe, reliable and affordable. Today, customers expect more. They also want their energy to be clean and secure.

Our commitment to equitable access and dedication to the communities we serve puts us in a unique position to help lead this energy transformation while also protecting the affordability and reliability of electric service.

Our vision for a clean energy future relies on three interrelated and overarching strategies:

  1. Decarbonize the electricity we provide customers through investment in clean and renewable resources like wind, solar and hydro power.
  2. Modernize to a smarter, more resilient grid to electrify other sectors of the economy – especially the transportation sector, which is the largest source of greenhouse gas emissions in the state.
  3. Empower customers in their energy technology choices so they can be part of the clean energy revolution.

Achieving a clean energy future will be challenging; we believe it is attainable and vital to Oregon’s future. We invite you to learn more about our vision and the strategies we are focusing on to help make it a reality. But we cannot do this by ourselves – we look forward to working together with customers, stakeholders and regional partners to make real progress in this transformation.

Oregon will not be able to achieve a clean energy future unless we tackle transportation. That’s because emissions from our cars, trucks, buses, ships and other forms of transportation is the largest source of greenhouse gas emissions in our state - accounting for a whopping 40% of total emissions.
