We’re installing a new transmission line in your neighborhood to improve service

To strengthen the local energy grid, PGE crews will be installing a second transmission line to feed into a technology campus at SW Murray Boulevard and SW Jenkins Road.

Construction schedule

  • January to July 2019
  • 7 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday

This schedule may change based on the needs of the project. While not anticipated, weekend and night hours may be required at times to avoid impacting traffic on Murray Boulevard and Blue Line service on the MAX.

Murray Blvd.

What to expect during construction?

You will see PGE crews working along SW Murray Boulevard between SW Terman Road and SW Jenkins Road.

The job involves installing new transmission poles and a high-voltage transmission line along the right-of-way from Terman Road north to a technology campus. This includes crossing Murray Boulevard with the transmission line at several locations.

This work will require temporary traffic adjustments. You may notice an increase in utility truck traffic in the area.

The line will also cross the MAX tracks, and we will coordinate with TriMet to avoid impacting Blue Line MAX service.

We’re taking steps to ensure your safety. Here’s how you can help:

  • Watch for temporary one-lane and full-street closures that may be needed; allow extra time for commuting safely through this area.
  • Follow any flaggers, detours and signs placed to keep drivers, pedestrians and workers safe.
  • Please avoid all electrical equipment and cables, and make sure children know to never touch the equipment.

Building a brighter energy future for you

Adding a second transmission line to this business will provide the increased service, reliability and redundancy its operations need. Because of the higher level of service these improvements provide, all project costs are funded by that business directly, not by PGE ratepayers. This is just one of many projects we’re working on to enhance and modernize the energy grid, making it smarter and more resilient, and creating a platform for a clean energy future.

Thank you for your patience and support as we work to make electric service smarter and more reliable.
