Rebuilding, upgrading and safeguarding our energy grid is PGE’s commitment to deliver reliable, affordable and safe power to homes and businesses in our service area. This project is one of many projects in construction that are enhancing our modernized grid to create a platform for a clean energy future.
The construction of the new Marquam substation, along with its underground feeder and distribution lines, are necessary to ensure the downtown corridor and surrounding neighborhoods receive uninterrupted service.
Since construction began, significant progress has been made to strengthen the downtown corridor grid. Recent discoveries of old Portland infrastructure, including trolley tracks, abandoned tunnels, old building foundations, and historical artifacts have slowed construction progress. In some cases, archeologists led the hand-digging of artifacts to recover and preserve.
Construction is slated for completion in April 2019. A full surface restoration of impacted sidewalks and streets are included in our restoration work activities.
Your utility service will not be interrupted during this work.
