PGE crews working through the night to restore outages related to historic snowfall

PORTLAND, Ore. — About 75 Portland General Electric crews are working to restore power to customers affected by heavy snow throughout our service area. Since Tuesday night outages affecting more than 63,000 customers have been repaired, but heavy snow loads continue to bring down trees and tree limbs, further stressing power distribution equipment, leaving about 9,000 customers affected as of 10:00 p.m.
Crews will work as quickly as safety allows through the night and Thursday to bring everyone back online, but difficult and sometimes unsafe conditions and newly-occurring outages could mean delays in restoration of service for some customers. Associated with the outages, approximately 900 downed lines have been reported in PGE's service area.
As always, PGE warns the public never to approach a downed line, and to be aware of the potential for lines buried in snow in the vicinity of downed trees or tree limbs. Beginning tomorrow, approximately 20 mutual aid crews from other utilities will join PGE's crews in the all-hands-on-deck restoration effort.
