John (Jack) W. Curran, Ph.D. has spent over 25 years in the area of product development. With 32 patents issued, he has been responsible for products ranging in scope from shear wave seismic sources to fire evacuation systems to LED signals and area lights. Currently he is president of LED Transformations, LLC, a New Jersey based technology consulting company specializing in providing guidance to companies entering the solid-state lighting field. John is a member of the SPIE; IESNA; the Optical Society of America and the Acoustic Society of America. He has given numerous talks to the lighting industry on the correct use of LED technology for general illumination applications both for his own company and on behalf of the U.S. Dept. of Energy.
Chip Israel has over 30 years of lighting design experience. In 1992, he founded Lighting Design Alliance, a full-service architectural lighting design firm, where he built a highly-select team of lighting design professionals who now serve a variety of clients worldwide. As CEO and founder, Chip works closely with the owner, the design team, and manufacturers to ensure lighting systems are fully integrated with the architectural design and enhance the designer’s concepts.
Maja Petrić, Ph.D. is an artist working with cutting-edge technology to create innovative spatial experiences that evoke the sublimity of nature. She received her doctorate from University of Washington and a Master’s from New York University on the topic of transforming the poetic experience of space through experimental use of technology. Maja’s light art has been exhibited worldwide and she has been nominated for FastCo Innovation by Design Awards 2016, the International Light Art Award, and received numerous international awards including Microsoft Research Art Residency Award, Richard Kelly Light Art Award, Thunen Light Art Award, and Croatian National Award for Science and Technological Development.
